Well, I guess it’s official now, there’s an actual web site (complete with treatment services, recovery resources, downloads, and podcasts) devoted to Internet Addiction.
From their website:
“The Center for Online Addiction offers hope and valuable resources to those seeking information about Internet addiction. Internet addiction is a type of compulsive disorder and as an organization, we are specifically dedicated to helping people who suffer from this new form of addictive behavior.”
Can anyone else see the irony in this? “Come to our website on the internet, download our podcasts, we’ll help you recover from your internet addiction… and we use SSL encryption to ensure your privacy!”
Isn’t that sort of like Alcoholics Anonymous holding their support groups exclusively at the local bar?
