Which presidential candidate do they call Flipper?

One of the presidential candidates for the GOP nomination has an unfortunately accurate nickname: Flipper.

No, not because he swims in the sea, eats fish, and does tricks on command. Instead, they call him Flipper because he flip-flops on issues — important, character defining issues.

  • In 1994, Mitt Romney said “I think that abortion should be safe and legal in the country. […] I sustain and support [Roe v. Wade] and the right of a woman to make that decision.
  • In 2002, Mitt Romney said “I will preseve and protect a woman’s right to choose and am dedicated to honoring my word in that regard.”
  • After his decision to run for President of the United States of America, when asked about his position on abortion, Mitt Romney replied “I’m pro-life”.
Does this mean that he lied in 2002 when he was “dedicated to honoring” his word? Or did he flip-flop on a pivotal issue?
