UDOT advises heading home at 3pm to avoid today's blizzard

No, it’s not political in nature, we can’t legislate away blizzards, but we thought it might be beneficial to members of our precinct reading the site to take appropriate actions and make preparations.

According to a story at KSL.com, UDOT is advising motorists to head home by 3pm today (November 23rd, 2010) to avoid the forecasted blizzard. — Glen Merrill from the National Weather Service is advising residents to “hunker down, wait it out a bit. It’s going to be that significant.” The National Weather Service predicts the storm will reach Ogden between 4:30 and 5pm, and Salt Lake City between 5:30 and 6pm. Damaging high winds may precede the storm front.

Meteorologists say the 3 to 6 inches of snow anticipated in the valleys is not the problem — it’s the combination of snow, extreme cold and possibly damaging winds.

It’s probably too late to order an emergency kit for your vehicles or home, but you may as well order one now so you’ll be prepared for next time!
