Sorry for the Downtime

WordPress 2.8 was released today and I decided up upgrade all the blogs I administer to this latest version. The following sites were upgraded without any issues.

When it comes to this site (www.JoeLevi.com) the upgrade took quite a while (15-20 minutes from start to finish). This mirrors the overall sluggishness that this site has been experiencing lately.

I decided it was time to wipe the files and start fresh, this, of course, required taking the site down.

I took the site down at approximately 10am, and it’s back up now at 11:05am, so approximately an hour of downtime.

Was it worth it?

You tell me! The site seems SIGNIFICANTLY more responsive now than before (with 2.7.1 or 2.8 before the “fresh start’”), and loads in about a tenth the time.

I hope this will increase my viewership, pageviews, and repeat visitors. Time will tell.

In the meantime, tell me what you think of the speed difference! Your input is ALWAYS appreciated!

    @Mike Dopp,

    Thank you… I feel like i tore down and rebuilt the house rather then vacuuming and mopping the place… but in this case it was worth it.
