Bringing some Utah sanity back to Washington

Fellow Utahns,

The unemployment rate is up; housing prices are down; and the price of gas remains close to $4 a gallon. It’s pretty clear our economy isn’t rebounding like Utahns had hoped and the President promised. More burdensome and costly regulations, more deficit spending, and more Washington control are not the answers.

It’s time for a new approach where Washington gets out of the way to let entrepreneurs and the private sector create the jobs and growth that will take our economy out of this severe economic downturn. I am committed to the reforms and spending reductions that will put our nation on a path to prosperity for our children and grandchildren.

Utah’s natural gas reserves are enormous and, if responsibly developed, could become an important economic engine that will drive eastern Utah’s economy for decades.”

Hatch, Lieberman Introduce Congressional Resolution Reaffirming U.S. Policy Toward Israel

Today, U.S. Senators Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) introduced a bipartisan congressional resolution in support of Israel and its June 4, 1967 border. The resolution states that, “It is the policy of the United States to support and facilitate Israel in maintaining, secure, recognized and defensible borders and that it is contrary to United States policy and our national security to have the borders of Israel return to the armistice lines that existed on June 4, 1967.”

IN SPEECH, HATCH CALLS ON OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO ACT ON TROIKA OF TRADE PACTS

“This country needs all the jobs and economic growth that we can get. So why does the administration refuse to submit these agreements to Congress for consideration? Despite declaring the benefits of these agreements for the United States at every turn, the Obama Administration is sitting on them, hurting our recovery and undermining job growth.
With respect to international trade, the administration has adopted a policy of delay and dither.”

Sincerely,

Orrin Hatch
