Women's Conference Hosted by Senator Hatch Featuring NASA Astronaut Marsha Ivins

Elaine and I are excited to invite you to the 26th Annual Utah Women’s Conference, “Discovering the Diversity and Unity of Women,” which will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010. The Conference will be held at the Abravanel Symphony Hall and will begin at 8:30 am.

We are thrilled to host nationally known Fox News Commentator Dana Perino as our luncheon keynote speaker. She served as the White House Press Secretary for President George W. Bush from 2007 to 2009 – the first Republican woman to hold that position. Also, we are delighted to have national award winning composer and entertainer Kurt Bestor as our featured morning keynote speaker and entertainer. American Astronaut and space shuttle veteran Marsha Ivins will also be featured in the morning session. Ivins is a veteran of five space flights beginning in 1990 through 2001; and has logged over 1300 hours in space. She has been an engineer at the Johnson Space Center since 1974, and is currently assigned to the Astronaut Office supporting the Space Shuttle, Space Station and Constellation Branches.

Dana, Kurt, and Marsha will be joined by many other outstanding and motivational speakers at this year’s conference. You will be inspired by Stephani Victor who coped with the loss of both legs in a tragic accident. Following a painful recovery and with a strong determination to succeed, Stephani became a three time US Paralympian and four time World Champion skier. Mrs. Jawad is the founder of Ayenda Foundation, an organization that supports projects that enhance the welfare, education, health, shelter and safety of Afghan Children. She is a member of the U.S.-Afghan Women’s Council established in 2002 to advance the rights and empowerment of women. We are honored to have Shamim Jawad provide her personal experiences and remarkable endeavors. In the workshop, “Paying It Forward – Community Involvement”, Enid Greene and LouAnn Christensen will share their insights into becoming a positive advocate.

In addition, the Conference is pleased to host Richard Paul Evans, New York Times Bestselling Author of the Christmas Box, The Gift and The Five Lessons A Millionare Taught Me. He will share his insights in the workshop, “The Five Doors – A Writer’s Advice to Living a Life Worth Living.” In the workshop, “Using Social Media to Enhance Your Business,” MaryPat Kavanagh, Utah President of NAWBO and founding President of Strategic Results Marketing, will teach cutting-edge marketing strategies as well as online and offline techniques in helping entrepreneurs and small business owners. Kevin Hall‘s workshop will be an engaging session in which this acclaimed business consultant, coach and bestselling author of the book Aspire will present a workshop, “Transforming Your Life Through the Power of Words.”

The Conference will feature many other local and national experts who will be presenting workshops dealing with building family relationships, educational opportunities for our youth, and strategies for dealing with difficult children. In addition, many other important topics will be covered including: valuable financial and budgeting information, dealing with stress, health and wellness, and protecting our families.

As a special feature this year, we are pleased to have the Mobile Mammography Van on site at the Utah Women’s Conference.
