Whether it’s voting by Postal Mail or by casting a ballot in person, voting is at the center of our Republic. Some, however, want to see voting by email via your home computer, smartphone, or tablet.
Several states, including Alaska and Maryland allow voting over the Internet, sometimes with PDF forms. This video outlines why that is a very, very bad idea, and why paper ballots are the only way to ensure your vote is accurately counted.
The study successfully demonstrated how an off-the-shelf router (like the one in your home) can easily be modified to silently alter election ballots. What’s even worse is that your Internet traffic travels through dozens of unsecure routers on its way to its destination, any of which could modify the contents of your ballot.
