I’m getting more than a little disgusted with Comcast.net…
- their content filtering (that they deny… or not, depending on the day),
- and their rolling over to RIAA/MPAA information requests without requiring a warrant,
- and being lax about security (what with their DNS being recently hacked),
- and most of all, their prices for cable Internet
So, I’m paying about $60/month for cable internet, and wondering if DIGIS.NET at half the price is good enough for my VoIP line (through Vonage) and my Netflix streaming, plus all the other stuff I do online…
Anyone out there with experience? Please let me know!
I use Digis, and so does Paige. I think she has a VOIP phone, too (I only use my cell).
The only drawback I can mention is the transfer cap. If you transfer over (I believe it’s 6GB) a month, they’ll throttle your speed down (until the next month).
Now, I just have the $29.95 plan, so they may have a higher cap on more expensive plans, but that’s the only flaw I can see.
If you’re transferring a lot of Netflix movies you’ll go over that cap pretty darn quick.
Other than that, I have had no problems with them. In a year we’ve only had one outage and it was a regional thing that was fixed within an hour or two. Tech support is pretty good…quick and helpful.
@McKay,
Hello again! Long time no talky!
Your testimonial carries a lot of weight, and I thank you for it… I researched a bit more about their service, and you’re right about the throttling. I shouldn’t have that problem, but I just don’t know how much data I transfer a month.
Anyone out there know if there’s a place in the DD-WRT Micro router that will track this for you?
