Water Filters from here amzn.to /aX3SnfI decided to embark on a smaller-scale project, but one that could have the most profound impact on the lives of my family should disaster strike.
We as humans can’t live long without water, and we can’t stay healthy without clean water. Luckily, where I live, we have ready access to various sources of water (rainfall, streams, irrigation ditches, the Great Salt Lake, etc.), but none of these sources are viable sources of drinking water.
So I decided to build a homemade water filtration system using some off-the-shelf filters, a couple 5-gallon buckets and lids, and a spigot. Total cost of the system was under $150 with the majority of that being the cost of the filters themselves.
Want to make your own?
- Get your water filters here
- Get your spigot/spout here, or another style of spigot
- Get your buckets here
- Get your lids here (I’d suggest a blue one for the bottom one, and another color (other than black) for the top
