Quote of the Day: “Who watches the watchmen?” — Juvenal
It’s as certain as death and taxes . . .
- The politicians constantly seek more power for The State
- They constantly promise us the power will protect us, and not be abused
- But we always learn later that the power was abused almost immediately
- But by then it is too late
The sample letter below provides the latest case in point. To make use of this example, and to empower you to complain about the endless flow of State incompetence, corruption, and crime, we have created a new campaign.
Here’s another example of why I don’t trust my government, and why I want it to do less.
After 9/11 you politicians asked us for increased power, claiming you would use it to protect us from terrorism. You also promised us this power would not be abused. But the pledge was broken early and often. For instance, please read this story from the Washington Post . . .
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/20/AR2010092003100_pf.html
Justice Department investigators found that activists were placed on terrorist watch lists simply because they were planning nonviolent civil disobedience to protest government policies.
Not only did this do harm to the people who were targeted, it also made the rest of us less safe by cluttering the terrorist watch list with people who pose no threat to anyone.
It bears repeating, this is one more reason why I do not trust my government, and why I want it to be smaller, and less powerful. Please take note of this and act accordingly. I WANT YOU TO DO LESS!
