U.S. District Judge declares two provisions in Patriot Act as Unconstitutional

Yesterday we ran an article telling you several reasons why you shouldn’t vote for Orrin Hatch. We also told you about two bills that Senator Hatch not only voted FOR, but defends even to this day which essentially nullify your First Amendment, Fourth Amendment, and Fifth Amendment Rights (read that article here).

Now we’ve learned that a U.S. District Judge has declared two provisions of the liberty-robbing (and inappropriately named) Patriot Act as Unconstitutional!!

Which two provisions you ask? Why, the very two that Senator Orrin Hatch says are “necessary for fighting terrorism” by removing the Constitutional REQUIREMENT that a law enforcement agency or Federal Agent obtain a search warrant BEFORE searching or seizing your property!

The decision came after the authorities had mistakenly arrested Portland attorney Brandon Mayfield for being involved in the 2004 Madrid train bombing. After he had filed a lawsuit against the federal government to compensate him for the damages, a $2 million settlement was finally reached after apologies of misread fingerprints. The case came as a huge embarrassment for the federal government and the FBI for its careless work during investigations.

Judge Ann Aiken said “For over 200 years, this Nation has adhered to the rule of law – with unparalleled success. A shift to a Nation based on extra-constitutional authority is prohibited, as well as ill-advised.”

Senator Hatch, even the courts are against you on this one. It’s time for you to repeal these onerous, liberty-robbing bills and restore our Rights! Elections are right around the corner, we’re watching.
