Senator Bennett was fired

The Media headlines read that Senator Bennett was “Defeated” or “Ousted”. How far from the truth these news bites are!

Let me be absolutely clear: Senator Bennett was fired.

The Media is painting the picture that he was simply voted out, that he served his State well, and that we should thank him for a job well done.

This may be me in some hot water with the Utah GOP, but I feel it needs to be said.

Senator Bennett was casting votes contrary to the will of the people of Utah. He became less and less responsive to requests for explaining his votes, and he would not commit to support or oppose key pieces of legislature when asked by his constituents. When an employee does the opposite of what his boss tells him to do, then refuses to explain his actions to his boss, it is the responsibility of the boss to fire the insubordinate employee. That is exactly what we did.

What’s ironic, after having been fired at Convention, Senator Bennett said that he had cast some votes that were “toxic” (to use his words), but that if he had to do them over again that he would not cast those votes any differently. This, Senator, is exactly why we fired you.

To rub salt in the wounds, he again defied his boss (you and I) by voting not to Audit the Fed (this after his office promised me via telephone that he “supports transparency” and felt “an audit of the Federal Reserve would be appropriate”).
