Post asking Davis County Democrats to meet at Nagle home to campaign for incumbent City Councilmen removed

A few days ago we reported that the Davis County Democrat Party was organizing a campaign for the three incumbent Syracuse City Councilmembers. In their words:

Davis County Democrats organize at home of Mayor NagleSyracuse, like many other cities, is under attack by city council candidates who want to gut city governments. […] It’s important we fight for good candidates in municipal races.  Usually these candidates become partisan candidates later on in their political careers. […] If they believe in good government, this isn’t so much of a problem. […] On Saturday, October 29, at 10 AM, please meet at the Nagle home of 773 West 2400 South, Syracuse to do targeted, door-to-door campaigning for Alan ClarkMatthew Ocaña, and Doug Peterson.  […] You can also ask questions about the candidates to Davis County Democratic Party treasurer Kevin Nagle. Since then a bit has happened. In no particular order…

Post asking Davis County Democrats to meet at Nagle home to campaign for incumbent City Councilmen removed

  • The Davis County Democrat party removed the post in question. The previous link results in a “404 Page not found” error.
  • Councilmen Clark and Ocaña have reportedly replied to email inquires and have denied any knowledge of the Democrats involvement in their campaign.
  • Reportedly, Kevin Nagle has responded to some who have emailed him stating that he did not post the “call to arms” on the Davis County Democrats page. Further, according to the same source, Kevin claims the Democrat Party is using “his” home, not his wife’s home for the campaigning — even though they share the same address.

The first point bears some weight. Why would the Democrats remove the post a week before their partisan campaign meeting was to occur? We can only surmise that it was drawing a lot of attention to their activities, and could potentially hurt the candidates that the Democrats want to keep in office — or perhaps they just want to keep the more conservative candidates out of office.

Either of the two mean essentially the same thing: the Democrats must think the voting records of Councilmen Clark, Ocaña, and Peterson  are closer to the planks of the Democrat Party Platform than their opponents.
