Message from Orrin Hatch, U.S. Senator

Fellow Republican,

This past Monday, June 28th, the Senate Judiciary Committee began to fulfill our constitutionally outlined duty of Advice and Consent and began the confirmation hearings of President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Ms. Elena Kagan.

Today, I began my questioning of Ms. Kagan. You can watch this mornings question and answer session by clicking here. I will have another opprotunity to ask questions and so I would like to give you the opportunity to participate in Ms. Kagan’s confirmation hearings by emailing me at AskKagen@hatchforsenate.com any questions you would like to see asked at the hearing. I will also review questions on Twitter using the hashtag #askKagan and posted on my Facebook page.

Although I cannot guarantee your question will be asked, I will certainly review the questions you submit and see if there is an opportunity to use them during the course of the hearings. I want to assure you that during the confirmation hearings, I will thoroughly examine Ms. Kagan’s record to determine whether she would impartially adhere to the Constitution and laws of the land without substituting her personal views in her decisions.
