McCain a Polygamist?

Senator and presumed GOP nominee for President of the United States of America has an interesting marital history.

In his 2002 memoir, "Worth the Fighting For," Senator McCain wrote "I was separated from Carol, but our divorce would not become final until February of 1980." Court documents, however, indicate that McCain did not even file for divorce until Feb. 19, 1980, making him a liar.

Further, he wrote in his court petition that he and his current wife had "cohabited" until Jan. 7 of that year – legally making him an adulterer.

But wait, it gets better!

McCain’s divorce was granted April 2, 1980, and he wed his current wife in a private ceremony five weeks later.

To get married in Arizona (like most States) one must first obtain a marriage licence. McCain did so on March 6, 1980, while still legally married to his first wife.

In this regard, McCain is a liar and an adulterer, if not technically a polygamist.

Of note, however, is that polygamy is apparently legal in Arizona – or was in 1980.
