Do you have your Community Emergency Response Team certification yet?

The Syracuse Fire Department is offering a seven week C.E.R.T. Training Class starting Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 6-9 p.m. These classes will be held every Tuesday for seven weeks at the Syracuse Fire Station located at 1869 South 3000 West. There is a $25.00 charge for the C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) equipment that certified C.E.R.T. is required to have.

Class dates:

  • March 1
  • March 8
  • March 15
  • March 22
  • March 29
  • April 5
  • April 12
  • There will also be a final class mock disaster on April 16 from 9 a.m. to noon.

To sign up for the class you will need to call the Syracuse Fire Station in February at 801-614-9614 or send an e-mail to cert@syracuseut.com.

We would like as many members of our precinct as possible to be C.E.R.T. Trained.

If we had a large scale emergency, the Block Captains will probably be the “First Response” and possibly the only response for a period of time. If you are not already C.E.R.T. trained, please take this class if possible.

For those already C.E.R.T. Trained, there will be a C.E.R.T. Refresher Class sometime in March.
