Carl Wimmer’s Five-Point Plan for Economic Recovery

I know many of you are worried about the direction of our nation. So am I. Barack Obama’s policies scare me.   That is why I am running for the United States Congress.  Over the last five years the people of Utah have come to know me as a person of strong conviction and principle. I am someone who is unafraid to stand-up in the face of opposition to defend what I know is right. I intend to take those same unchanging principles to Washington, D.C. in 2012. For almost four years our country has been in an economic slump.  President Obama’s progressive policies have made the situation worse, but this is not the way it has to be.  With all the arrogance coming out of Washington, D.C. you would think there would be better ideas, solutions that work, and a bit more common sense.  Considering the financial pains that you and I are facing right now, I have come up with a “five-point plan for economic recovery” that I would like to introduce to you now.

  1. Pass a Balanced Budget Amendment. Each month you must balance your personal and family budget. This principle works for you, it works for the state of Utah, and it will work for the federal government.
  2. Eliminate Abusive Federal Regulations. The federal government continues to make life difficult for small businesses, farmers, manufacturers, and the every day laborer. We need to eliminate job-killing regulations.
  3. Eliminate the capital gains tax.  Two things that should not be taxed are death and success.  It goes against every free-market principle to punish success through excessive taxation.
  4. Reduce taxes across the board. This includes every business, individual, and family.  I trust you more with your money than I do government bureaucrats.
  5. Simplify the tax code. Each year Americans spend somewhere between $300 – $500 million in tax-preparation.  The tax code as it stands now is so draconian that it is virtually impossible to follow. We need to move towards a national fair-tax or a flat-tax.

So there it is: common sense solutions for economic recovery.  If we are to get Americans back to work, and if we are to get American businesses to come home from over-seas, then we need to stop thinking that spending ourselves deeper into debt is the solution.

These common sense ideas are why United States Senator Mike Lee has already endorsed my candidacy for congress.  In addition to Senator Lee, I have been endorsed by Gun Owners of America, The Family Research Council, Concerned Women for America, Citizens United, and dozens of elected officials, local business owners, and citizens.

I want to invite you to become a part of what will surely be one of the most dynamic campaigns in 2012. The Carl Wimmer for Congress campaign in conjunction with Senator Mike Lee will be holding our campaign “Kick-off” event Saturday, October 8th at Noah’s located at 322 West 11000 South, South Jordan from 11:30 – 2:00.

Please reserve this day and time to come have lunch and volunteer to help the Carl Wimmer campaign! More information will follow in the coming weeks.
