BlogEngine 1.4 Screws Upgraders

BlogEngine 1.4 is the latest in a string of updates for BlogEngine.net (a .NET blogging platform). This release was supposed to add widget support (something us WordPress users have had for a long time now).

What did it end up doing?

The 1.4 update ended up breaking everybody’s site that used any custom theme. No warnings on the upgrade.

The problems were acknowledged and an “fix” promised (1.4.1), but has yet to be seen.

So now BlogEngine.net users are faced with a dilemma: use broken software with a patch nowhere in sight, or try to revert back to 1.3 (like Mike Dopp just did).
