There’re coming quickly these days! Phishing scams that is.
The second scam I’ve gotten today is allegedly from Bank of the West with a subject line of Official update [message id: 0646866141].
Dear Bank of the West customer,
As part of the new security measures, all Bank of the West WebDirect users are required to complete WebDirect Customer Form. Please complete the form as soon as possible.
To access the form please click on the following link:
http://cib.bankofthewest.com/K1/WT.ac/WebDirect/index.php?fid=[long string of numbers]&email=[your email address]

As you probably guessed, I’m not (nor have I ever been) a Bank of the West customer. This is yet another attempt to drain your bank account of all your hard earned money.
This time, the domain name is registered to Christo Velkov, ironically, it shares one of the same nameservers with the Bank of America phishing scam I wrote about earlier:
- ns1.hop-quic.com
- ns1.studi-video.net
What should you do?
- Mark the message as spam.
- Do NOT click any link in the email.
- If you really want to drain your bank account, why not consider using your funds to pay off my mortgage instead?
- Forward the email to abuse@bankofthewest.com and marketing@easily.co.uk to report the abuse.
