2012 – 2014 Davis County Delegate Duties and Responsibilities

To be seated as a County Delegate you must have your name, telephone number, mailing address and email registered with the party. The name you should use should be the exact legal name you use to register to vote. You should expect to receive communications from the state and county parties, elected officials and GOP candidates. You may receive a large volume of communication.

Term of Service

The term of service for all delegates is two years. Should you move or change addresses during that time, please inform your legislative chair.

2012 Nominating Convention

The 2012 Nominating Convention will be held on April 13th starting at 7 p.m. Plan to attend the entire convention which may take up to four to five hours. You should plan to arrive early so you can meet all of the candidates and insured you are properly credentialed.

Prior to convention please be prepared to receive mail, email and phone calls from all of the candidates who will be running in the county convention. Also please plan to attend as many candidate events as possible, so you will be as informed as possible.

Special Elections

You may be called upon to attend special elections due to resignation or death of an elected official. These may be called with short notice. Please make certain you prepare yourself for these elections as you would for a convention

2013 Organizing Convention

You should also plan to attend the 2013 county organizing convention. At this convention county party officers will be elected. These conventions are similar in length to the nominating convention. You should plan to be contacted by all of the party officer candidates as you would for the nominating convention

Elected Officials
County Delegates are also responsible for keeping up-to-date with State legislation and contacting our State Senators, State Representatives, and Governor regularly to let them know the sentiment of Precinct members so they can cast their vote with a greater understanding of those who they represent.

Additionally, Delegates should have regular communication with Precinct members to ensure they are being correctly represented.
