VIDEO: PIT Maneuver

Whenever an alleged perpitrator runs from police there’s always a risk to innocent bystanders. To truncate high-speed chases police have devised what’s called the PIT Maneuver — short for Precision Immobilization Technique.

This maneuver places the front of the police cuizer at the rear and to either side of the suspect’s vehicle. The officer then nudges his cruiser into the other vehicle which causes it to spin out, usually 180°, facing the oncoming police cruizer.

I’ve seen plenty of these on tv, but I’ve never seen the running vehicle recover. Not a single time. That’s what makes this clip from Oklahoma so completely incredible.
