By popular request, here are a few snaps I took this morning of my “Ugly Chickens.”
The one on the right is Nugget, in the middle is Stew, on the left is Pox, and on the bottom is Pot Pie.
These birds are 1.5 years old and just coming out of a molt (hence why they look so ugly). I have gotten one egg from them so far, but it was a beautiful, big, brown egg that my wife had for breakfast this morning (over easy).
Last night was their second night with a light in their coop (a 23W CFL spiral in a heat lamp enclosure), so I’m hoping I’ll start getting a decent number of eggs with the next week or so.
