Scala and Kolacny Brothers

According to Wikipedia, “Scala & Kolacny Brothers is a Belgian girls’ choir, conducted by Stijn Kolacny and accompanied by Steven Kolacny on the piano. Formed in 1996 and winning the Belgian ‘Choir of the Year’-contest in 2000, they have made 5 studio albums, starting with On The Rocks in 2002.
Most songs are covers of well-known bands such as Radiohead, U2, Nirvana, Depeche Mode, Muse, Rammstein, etc.”

Though not an a capella choir per se, Scala & Kolacny Brothers choir exhibits many of the same vocal qualities that one would expect to find in some of the best a capella choirs. Accompanied only by a simple but very emotionally spirited piano the all girls’ choir has a vocal range and tonal purity that is hard to come by.

Add that with the popular American songs that they cover and you’ve got a potent combination, the likes of which I haven’t heard in a long, long time.

Take a listen. Tell me what you think.
