Daytime fireball seen over Utah

June 9th, 2008 by Joe

What some were calling a UFO has been “officially” deemed a “Daytime Fireball” (a very rare phenomena) over the mountains between Salt Lake City and Tooele: A meteor big enough and close enough to be spotted when the sun’s still out.

KSL (a local news agency) had several e-mails, and so did NASA’s ambassador to Utah, Patrick Wiggins.

I don’t know what’s scarier:

  • a meteor so big and so close that you can hear it
  • an actual “flying saucer”
  • the fact that NASA has an ambassador to Utah
