This copy of the Silverlight plug-in has expired.

November 12th, 2007 by Joe

Today I visited www.silverlight.net and was presented with the following error message:

This copy of the Silverlight plug-in has expired.

The version of the Silverlight plug-in installed on your system is no longer valid. Please go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=81210&clcid=0×409e for the latest version.

From what I understand, everyone who installed the beta version of the Silverlight 1.0 plugin will be seeing this error message in a browser-style dialog box which contains only an "OK" button. There is no user-friendly was of getting to the download page.

While that’s not very cool, the page which contains the Silverlight component still loads, just without the Silverlight content.
