extortion?

October 31st, 2003 by Joe Levi

Halloween is upon us again. After some considering, I’ve come to ponder the following: We dress our children in disguises, then send them door to door asking for candy, if the home-owner fails to “pay up” they are dealt a “trick” by a group of unsatisfied trick-or-treaters.

Isn’t this the same model as the mafia used? Are we indoctrinating our children into the mechanics of organized crime at a very young age?

Perhaps we’re just insuring the dentists will have their “fill” of customers for the following year.
